ABOUT ME
PERSONAL INTERESTS

When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, my family and my close friends. My husband, Kyle, and I have been married for 6 years and we currently live in Oakland, MI. We love to travel around Michigan and visit all the beautiful and unique places in our great state! Michigan State football and basketball are a huge part of our lives and we try to get back to campus at least once a year for games. I also enjoy cooking and testing out new recipes, as well as eating out with Kyle at different restaurants. I'm also an avid reader and look forward to spending more time this summer at the local library. Finally, I enjoy taking barre classes at Pure Barre Rochester a few days a week to stay active and relieve stress.

EDUCATION & DEGREES

I graduated from Michigan State University with my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 2012. I am certified to teach kindergarten through fifth grade for all subjects. I am also certified to teach grades six through eight in Language Arts.  After receiving my certificate and teaching for three years, I returned to Michigan State to receive my Master of Arts in Education (MAED).  I graduated in May 2018 from the MAED program, with a focus in language arts instruction and technology integration.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

I am currently working as a teacher apprentice/building substitute teacher at Troy Union Elementary. Troy Union is part of the Troy School District, located in Troy, MI. As a building substitute teacher, I adhere to any lesson plans and directions left by the instructing classroom teachers. I make sure to follow the classroom teachers' behavior management system. I maintain a safe and orderly environment for all students, as well as following the established routines and procedures of the classroom and school. Lastly, I perform other duties as assigned by administration. As a teacher apprentice, I assist with providing high-level literacy and math learning experiences for students. Additionally, I assist with prescribing, teaching, and assessing the course of study that provides tiered levels of support. Finally, I collaborate with general education teachers to coordinate implementation of strategies.
